How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Choose your photos with the button above, or drag them onto the box. You can pick hundreds at once, or drop a whole folder.
  2. Keep JPG selected (or pick PNG, PDF or WebP). Open Options if you need a smaller file, a size limit for an upload form, or the location removed.
  3. Download. One photo downloads as a JPG. Several come as one ZIP file, with each photo keeping its original name: IMG_1234.HEIC becomes IMG_1234.jpg.

Measured on our test Mac (Apple silicon, 8 GB) on 29 October 2026, across several runs: a 12 megapixel iPhone-size HEIC took between 0.3 and 1 second in Safari and Chrome, and twenty of them took between 3 and 11 seconds, depending on the browser and how busy the computer was. Phones are slower, but nothing waits in an upload queue.

Your photos never leave this device

Most converters upload every photo to their server, convert it there and send it back. This one does the work inside your browser tab. The page carries a security rule (a Content Security Policy) that only lets it talk to this website, and the converter code never sends file data anywhere, so there is no route for a photo to leave.

You can check it yourself: load this page, switch on Airplane Mode or unplug from the internet, then convert. It still works.

What the options do

Option What it changes When to use it
Quality (60 to 100) How much JPG compression is used. 90 is the default Lower it for smaller files; 90 and above looks the same as the original to most eyes
File ending .jpg or .jpeg. The files are identical inside When an upload form only accepts one of the two endings
Max size Shrinks the longest side to 4096, 2048 or 1080 pixels Email, chat apps and web pages rarely need more than 2048
Fit under Lowers quality, then size, until every file is under the limit Upload forms with a cap, like "max 2 MB"
Photo details Keep everything, remove the location, or remove all but the date Remove the location before posting photos of your home online

The date the photo was taken is kept in every mode, so converted photos still sort in the right order.

Questions

Is this HEIC to JPG converter really free?

Yes. There is no limit on the number of photos, no watermark, no account and no ads on the converter. It costs us almost nothing to run because your own device does the converting. The only paid thing we make is the optional Pro upgrade in the NoHEIC iPhone app.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser tab, and the page is only allowed to connect back to this website. You can prove it: load the page, turn on Airplane Mode, and convert.

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

JPG uses slightly different compression from HEIC, so it is not a bit-for-bit copy, but at quality 90 (the default) the difference is not visible in normal viewing. Set quality to 100 if you want the most detail. JPG files are usually larger than the HEIC, often about twice the size, because HEIC compresses better.

Will the date taken and other details be kept?

Yes. The date taken, camera and lens details and the location are copied into the JPG by default, and the photo comes out the right way up. Choose "Remove location" or "Remove all but the date" under Options if you are sharing photos publicly.

How many photos can I convert at once?

There is no set limit. On a computer, hundreds of photos at once is fine. On a phone, memory is tighter: if the page reloads during a very large batch, convert in groups of 50 to 100.

What is the difference between .jpg and .jpeg?

None: they are two endings for the same format. Some upload forms only accept one of them, so you can choose either under Options.

Can I stop my iPhone taking HEIC photos?

Yes. Go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you already took stay HEIC, which is what this converter is for.

Does it work on Windows and Android?

Yes. It runs in Chrome, Edge and Firefox on Windows, Mac, Linux and Android, and in Safari on Mac and iPhone. Nothing needs to be installed.
